A man is suing a school district and several officials of the district, claiming he was forced to resign amid an alleged atmosphere of sexual harassment by his female boss.
Ewart Jones Jr. filed a lawsuit April 3 in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas Houston Division against the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District,
Superintendent Dr. Mark Henry and trustees Thomas Jackson, Christine Hartley, Darcy Mingoia, Kevin Hoffman, Dr. John Ogletree, Don Ryan and Bob Covey, alleging civil rights violations, sexual harassment and hostile work environment.
The lawsuit states Jones was hired as the program coordinator for the Office of Community Programs at Cy-Fair ISD. He states one of his conditions was that he be home at night to care for his young children.
The office was filled with sexual comments, including comments from Jones’s supervisor Kristina Perez, the complaints states. Many of these comments were directed at Jones by Perez. Jones complained to management about the remarks and was placed on meetings and projects that forced him to work at night, which he deemed retaliatory, the complaint states. His complaint was also publicized in the office, which created a hostile work environment and Jones was forced to resign because of his schedule changes, according to the complaint.
Jones is seeking damages to compensate for lost wages, lost benefits, lost enjoyment of life, emotional pain and mental anguish, pre- and post-judgment interest and court costs.
He is being represented by Joseph M. Schreiber of the Law Office of Joseph M. Schreiber P.C.
