HOUSTON – A guest at a Houston-area restaurant alleges she was injured when she slipped on sewage that came from a drain on the floor of the restroom.

Kimberly Smith filed a complaint on July 9 in the Harris County District Court against Landry's Inc., doing business as Landry's Restaurant Inc. and also known as Saltgrass Steakhouse, alleging premises liability.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Aug. 17, 2017, she was dining at defendant's Saltgrass Steakhouse with her family when she was injured when she slipped on sewage in the restroom and fell to the floor. She alleges she suffered injuries to her knees, back, hands and the body in general as a result of the fall.

The plaintiff holds Landry's Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the functionality of plumbing in the restaurant on a regular basis and failed to perform standard and routine maintenance.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks monetary relief between $100,000 and $200,000 and such other additional relief to which she may prove herself justly entitled. She is represented by Kenneth R. Baird of The Baird Law Firm in Houston.
