HOUSTON – A Montgomery County couple sued their roofing contractor after the roofs on two of their commericial properties leaked and caused damage.

David Suchma and Sheree Suchma filed a complaint Dec. 17 in the Harris County District Court against Rick Richert, individually and doing business as A Superior Roof, alleging negligence, breach of warranties and violation of the Deceptive Trade Practices Act.

The Suchmas contracted with Richert on July 8, 2013, and on Aug. 28, 2014, to perform roofing work on their commercial properties in Houston. They allege in their complaint that after repairs and the installation of a new roof on one of the properties, the roofs continued to leak. The Suchmas claim Richert failed in his promises to fix the issues and that the leaks caused property damage, loss of good will with their tenants, loss of rental income and expenses to hire new contractors.

The Suchmas seek monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million and all other just relief. They are represented by Robert Lawrence of Rice, Rice & Rice PC in Conroe.
