HOUSTON — A man claims a tire company went "outside the bounds of decency" to collect a debt for his tire and rims purchase.

Karl Jones filed a complaint Jan. 20 in the Harris County District Court against Rent A Wheel and Omar Doe alleging violation of the Texas Finance Code and unreasonable debt collection.

Jones purchased rims and tires from the defendant and alleges he made his payments fully and on time. Jones alleges in December of 2019 the defendant used "a malicious course of conduct outside of the bounds of decency" including calling up to 10 times a day at work to collect the alleged debt and installing "locking" nuts on the tires that could only be removed with a special tool.

Jones seeks monetary relief between $200,000 and $1 million, trial by jury and all other just relief. He is represented by William Clanton of The Law Office of Bill Clanton PC in San Antonio.
