HOUSTON — A woman claims a contractor she hired to install new tile flooring failed to install the tile straight or level and damaged her furniture and home during construction.

Sylvia Romo filed a complaint Jan. 30 in the Harris County District Court against Installation Made Easy (IME) Inc., and Elite Roofing & Restorations alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act and breach of contract.

Romo hired one of IME's contractors, Elite Roofing, on May 10, 2019 to install tile in her Sugar Land, Texas home after speaking with one of their representatives at a Floor & Decor store. She alleges she paid Ellite a $3,391.21 deposit and purchased $4,459.55 on materials and supplies. Romo claims Elite "lacked" the correct tools to install the tile straight and level and damaged her walls, furniture and entryways during construction.

Romo seeks monetary relief of more than $20,000, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by Thane Sponsel, III and Zachary Clark of Sponsel Miller Greenberg PLLC in Houston.
