RICHMOND — A mother is suing a Sugar Land home for the disabled after her son was strangled to death by one of their employees.

Diana Brown, individually and on behalf of the Estate of Craig Anthony Hill, filed a complaint March 17 in the Fort Bend County District Court against Unique Manor and Rehab LLC alleging negligence and wrongful death.

Brown's son Craig was under the care of Unique Manor, a home for the disabled. Brown alleges that on Nov. 6, 2019, her son was beaten and strangled to death by a Unique Manor employee. She claims the home failed to properly screen and train staff and their failure to not have enough staffing.

Brown seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. She is represented by M. Paul Skrabanek of Pierce Skrabanek PLLC in Houston.
