SHERMAN — A former First Cash and Cash America Pawn store manager claims he was wrongfully fired because guns were left unlocked and stolen while he was on medical leave.

Jarett Ilardi filed a complaint April 1 in the Sherman Division of the Eastern District of Texas against First Cash Inc., and Cash America Pawn LP alleging violation of the Family Medical Leave Act.

Ilardi began working for the defendants on July 14, 2015 as a shop manager. Illardi claims after returning to work from FLMA on March 3, 2020, he was fired because some guns were left unlocked and stolen during his leave and while the assistant manager was in charge of store operations. Illardi claims he was used as a "scapegoat" because the defendants failed to follow ATF procedures and to avoid an ATF investigation.

Ilardi seeks monetary relief, trial by jury, interest and all other just relief. He is represented by W.D. Masterson of Kilgore & Kilgore PLLC in Dallas.
