HOUSTON – An injury at the gym has resulted in a lawsuit seeking $1.5 million in damages.

On June 11, Brendan Oliver filed suit against Life Time Fitness, Technogym USA and Christopher Gilchrist in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Oct. 29, 2018, Oliver was a guest at the Life Time Fitness on Cypress. Gilchrist was responsible for maintaining the equipment.

As Oliver was working out using TRX equipment, a clip broke, causing him to fall backwards, injuring his neck, back, hips, shoulders and body in general.

Life Time Fitness called an ambulance and Oliver was taken to the hospital, the suit states.

Oliver is seeking damages for his past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, disfigurement, impairment and loss of earning capacity.

He is alleging the defendants acted with a conscious indifference to his welfare, entitling him to exemplary damages.

Houston attorney Thomas Thurlow represents him.
