HOUSTON – The Kelsey-Seybold Medical Group has been named in a lawsuit alleging the clinic failed to catch a woman’s bladder cancer.

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Annegret and Charles Greeker filed the suit on Feb. 5 in Harris County District Court, also naming Dr. Benjamin Dillon as a defendant.

According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 12, 2019, Annegret was a patient at Kelsey-Seybold and seen by Dillon. An MRI of her pelvis revealed a mass.

The suit alleges Dillon failed to properly diagnose the mass and that the mass was not properly diagnosed until Sept. 23, 2020.

“By that time, the cancer had progressed to stage III-IVA bladder cancer,” the suit states. “Mrs. Greeker’s mass grew and multiplied into invasive, metastatic cancer due to Defendants’ failure to take the necessary steps to properly diagnose the mass.”

The plaintiffs are suing for their past and future mental anguish, impairment, disfigurement, loss of household services and loss of consortium.

Houston attorney Randy Sorrels represents them.
