BEAUMONT - A driver for the Davis Transfer Company allegedly smashed into another vehicle and then fled the scene, a recently filed lawsuit alleges.
Seeking more than $1 million in damages, Crystal Silvey filed suit against DTC on May 7 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Feb. 22 Silvey was traveling as a passenger on I-10 in Jefferson County when suddenly and without warning DTC’s driver failed to pay attention to the roadway, traveled into Silvey’s lane and smashed into her vehicle, causing her serious and permanent injuries.
After the wreck, a BPD officer conducted a thorough investigation and found the driver to be the sole cause of the wreck. Instead of rendering aid, the driver fled the scene, the suit states.
At the time of the collision, the driver was operating his 18-wheeler for the sole purpose of work.
Silvey is suing for her medical expenses, mental anguish, impairment and disfigurement.
Attorneys Cody Dishon and Javier Cabanillas of The Ferguson Law Firm represent her.
Judge Justin Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
