Lawsuits

GALVESTON — The owners of a fishing charter vessel are facing a negligence claim after a passenger was thrown into the side of the vessel.

Nicholas Eggleston filed a complaint June 14 in Galveston County 122nd District Court against Get Hooked Charters LLC alleging negligence.

Eggleston, according to his suit, was aboard the defendant's fishing vessel on Sept. 7, 2019. He claims he was thrown into the side of the vessel which caused him to suffer serious injuries to his head, neck, back, knee, leg and other parts of his body.

Eggleston alleges Get Hooked Charters' negligence for improper operation of the vessel, failing to have proper equipment and for failing to maintain, inspect and repair the vessel.

He also alleges in his complaint that Get Hooked Charters failed to have adequate safety equipment, medical treatment and did not properly staff the vessel. Eggleston claims Get Hooked also failed to properly train and supervise its workers or provide an appropriate emergency response. He alleges in addition to suffering physical pain, he also suffered impairment and mental anguish as well as incurred pharmaceutical and medical expenses.

Eggleston seeks monetary relief of more than $1 million, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief.

He is represented by Nicholas Morrow, John Sheppard and Patrick McGinnis of Morrow & Sheppard LLP in Houston.
