HOUSTON — A patient alleges her food surgeon performed an unnecessary repair of her fracture which caused her to require revision surgery.
Maria Martinez filed a complaint Sept. 19 in Harris County District Court against McKinney Podiatric Associates, PA, Coastal Foot & Ankle Associates, PA and Hina Shafqoat Hassan, DPM alleging negligence.
Martinez alleges in her complaint that Hassan performed an "unnecessary, unindicated and unhelpful right cuboid subchondroplasty and repair of insufficiency fracture" on Nov. 4, 2021. She claims Hassan failed to exhaust conservative treatment and has suffered continued pain and required revision surgery. Martinez alleges Hassan was negligent in her evaluation, treatment and management of her care which also caused her to suffer mental anguish, medical, custodial and attendant care expenses, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages.
Martinez seeks monetary relief, interest, trial by jury and all other just relief. She is represented by James Edwards of The Law Offices of Jim Edwards PLLC in Houston.
