BEAUMONT – The Ferguson Law Firm has obtained a temporary restraining order on behalf of the family of an Orange woman killed in early morning crash on Highway 62 in Newton County. Paul ‘Chip’ Ferguson, managing partner of The Ferguson Law Firm, obtained the order on behalf of the woman’s husband and two children, a press release states.

Stephanie Gillespie had left her home early on the morning of Sept. 26 to visit her mother in Alexandria, Louisiana. As she traveled north on Highway 62, a Sunbelt Rentals truck traveling south crossed the center stripe and hit Gillespie’s Nissan SUV head-on, the press release states.

The crash was investigated by Texas Highway Patrol. Sunbelt Rentals is headquartered in Fort Mill, South Carolina and is registered with the United States Department of Transportation, making their vehicle a commercial motor vehicle.

The filing was made by The Ferguson Law Firm on behalf of Gillespie’s husband and two children.

“The restraining order preserves all evidence of the crash including the vehicles so that our people can inspect and photograph them,” Ferguson said. “Once done, we will proceed against those responsible for this tragic occurrence. We will seek, and find, justice for this family. We cannot lose sight that this has been a devastating loss for the Gillespie family. We have lost a wife, a mother, and a grandmother.”

The filing is Cause No. B210554; James Gillespie, et al v. Sunbelt Rentals, Inc., et al – in the 60th Judicial District Court. It has been assigned to the Honorable Justin Sanderson.
