HOUSTON - A woman is suing Hyatt for injuries she received after the tip of her finger was ripped off while sliding a bathroom door shut.

Seeking up to $1 million in damages, Stephanie Saldivar filed her suit on Jan. 5 in Harris County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 2, 2023, Saldivar was a guest at the Hyatt Regency. Upon information and belief, the bathroom door handle in her room was installed in such a way that it would collide with an adjacent handle, and did not have a stopper.

As she attempted to slide the door shut, it collided with a handle on the adjacent wall, jamming her finger between them and ripping off the tip of her finger, the suit states.

She is accusing the defendant of negligently failing to make the dangerous condition safe and is seeking damages for her past and future medical expenses, pain, mental anguish, impairment and disfigurement.

The Houston law firm of Armstrong Lee & Baker represents her.
