HOUSTON – The Texas Supreme Court recently issued a stay in litigation alleging that a man’s flight was interrupted by a slip and fall in a bathroom airport.

Harris County District Court records show that Christopher Griner filed the suit against the city of Houston, the Houston Airport System, and George Bush Intercontinental Airport on Feb. 8, 2019.

According to the original petition, Griner was in the restroom at Bush Airport’s Terminal D when he slipped and fell on a “slippery, water-like substance” on the floor, causing him injury.

Court records the city filed a mandamus petition in the Supreme Court on March 18, questioning whether the trial court abused its discretion by refusing to enforce the mandatory stay that arose when it filed its appeal of the trial court’s denial of its plea to the jurisdiction and motion for summary judgment on governmental immunity.

The Supreme Court granted the stay that same day.

Griner is represented by the law firm Arnold & Itkin LLP in Houston.
