On March 23, 2024, a lawsuit was filed in the District Court of Harris County, Texas by plaintiff Jessie Baines against defendants Justin Chronister, M.D. and Larry L. Likover, M.D., P.A. The case is registered under the ID 2024-18726. The suit alleges that the defendants negligently removed left ankle hardware from the plaintiff on April 14, 2022, resulting in permanent nerve injury.

The plaintiff's lawyer argues that this incident was foreseeable and preventable. Despite attempts to resolve the matter without litigation, the defendants reportedly refused to take responsibility for their actions, necessitating this lawsuit. The plaintiff is a former United States Postal employee who can no longer work in the same capacity due to his injuries.

In terms of damages, Mr. Baines seeks monetary relief aggregating more than $50,000 but less than $1,000,000 as well as judgment for all other relief to which he is entitled. He reserves the right to amend this damage calculation as discovery progresses.
