Stephen Holloway has filed a negligence complaint against Coterra Energy, Inc. and Avery Technical Resources, Inc. The complaint was filed in the District Court of Harris County, Texas on May 20, 2024.

The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on October 21, 2022, at Coterra Energy's premises in Orla, Texas. On this date, Holloway was performing his duties within the scope of his employment for Avery Technical Resources when a volt meter exploded, causing severe burns to his hands. Holloway alleges that the dangerous and hazardous condition leading to the explosion was due to the negligence of both defendants.

Holloway claims that Coterra Energy failed to properly maintain the equipment in a reasonable and safe manner, failed to exercise caution, failed to inspect the equipment adequately, and failed to provide necessary warnings. Similarly, he accuses Avery Technical Resources of failing to provide proper supervision at the work site, failing to implement adequate safety procedures, and failing to provide sufficient safety equipment. Each of these alleged acts and omissions constitutes negligence or negligence per se according to Holloway.

As a result of these failures, Holloway sustained serious personal injuries including mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, medical expenses in the past as well as future impairment and disability. He is seeking monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million. The damages sought include compensation for physical pain suffered from the date of occurrence up until trial and beyond; mental anguish; reasonable medical expenses incurred; loss or reduction of earnings capacity; disfigurement; and physical impairment.

Holloway's attorney Joshua R. Leske from Husain Law + Associates is representing him in this case. The plaintiff requests that all documents produced by defendants during discovery may be used at any pre-trial proceeding or trial itself. The designated e-service email address for receiving documents is eserve@hlalawfirm.com.
