A Houston woman has filed a lawsuit against two companies, alleging negligence that led to her severe injuries. Victoria Dominguez filed the complaint in Harris County District Court on July 2, 2024, naming KV Main Limited, L.L.C., and Viking Ventures, LLC as defendants.

According to the court documents, Dominguez claims she suffered significant injuries after falling down an unlit staircase at Zenaku bar on July 29, 2022. The bar is owned by KV Main Limited and operated by Viking Ventures. Dominguez asserts that she tripped over a chain barricade that was not visible due to inadequate lighting in the area. "Defendants knew or should have known of the dangerous condition and failed to inspect, repair, or warn Plaintiff," the complaint states.

The plaintiff alleges that both companies breached their duty of care by failing to ensure the premises were safe for patrons. Specifically, they did not provide adequate lighting or proper barriers around hazardous areas like staircases. Dominguez argues that these failures directly resulted in her accident and subsequent injuries. She is seeking damages for physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, medical expenses incurred and anticipated in the future, physical impairment, and loss of enjoyment of life.

Dominguez's legal team argues that KV Main Limited and Viking Ventures are liable under premises liability laws. They emphasize that the defendants had a responsibility to maintain a safe environment for their patrons but failed to do so. The lawsuit also highlights that Viking Ventures engaged in activities constituting business within Texas, thereby establishing jurisdiction over them.

The plaintiff is requesting monetary relief exceeding $1 million along with pre-judgment and post-judgment interest as provided by Texas law. Additionally, she has demanded a jury trial for this case.

Representing Victoria Dominguez are attorneys Alfonso Nevarez and Jaime Rodriguez from Nevarez Williams law firm. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-41977 and will be presided over by Judge Jarod Stirrup in Harris County's 270th District Court.
