A Harris County resident has filed a lawsuit against three companies, alleging negligence that resulted in personal injuries. On November 27, 2024, Maria Nelson filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, naming Tackle Construction, L.L.C., Lennar Corporation, and Municipal District Services, L.L.C. as defendants.
According to the petition, the incident occurred on March 29, 2023, when Maria Nelson experienced a water leak at her property located at 25814 Llano Knoll Street in Katy, Texas. The defendants were engaged in repair work when they allegedly struck a gas line, causing a gas leak. As a result of inhaling gas fumes for approximately 30 minutes, Nelson claims she suffered physical illness and injury. She asserts that this accident was directly caused by the negligence of the defendants.
Nelson accuses the defendants of failing to exercise reasonable care during their operations. The lawsuit highlights several alleged breaches of duty by the defendants including failing to inspect the work site and equipment adequately, neglecting to warn about dangerous conditions, and not maintaining a safe work environment. Furthermore, it is claimed that employees were not properly trained in using and maintaining equipment safely.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief ranging from $250,000 to $1 million for various damages such as past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earning capacity and consortium among others. Additionally, Nelson requests exemplary damages due to what she describes as an extreme degree of risk taken by the defendants with conscious indifference to her safety.
Represented by attorney Kristin Suniga from Marcos & Associates P.C., Maria Nelson demands a jury trial for her case which has been assigned Case ID 2024-83785 under Judge Christopher Matthews in the 127th Judicial District Court.
