Renoyce Booker has filed a lawsuit against a driver and a trucking company following a car accident that left him with severe injuries. The complaint was lodged in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on December 11, 2024, naming Timothy Len Shiflet and Landstar Inway Inc. as defendants.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on January 1, 2023, when Renoyce Booker stopped behind Timothy Len Shiflet's vehicle at a stop sign on Blaffer Road in Houston. Without warning, Shiflet allegedly reversed his vehicle into Booker's car. At the time of the collision, Shiflet was reportedly employed by Landstar Inway Inc., acting within the scope of his employment. Booker accuses Shiflet of negligence and gross negligence for failing to control his speed and direction adequately, maintain an adequate lookout, and take proper evasive action. "Shiflet’s acts involved an extreme degree of risk," claims Booker in the filing.

Booker also alleges negligent entrustment against Landstar Inway Inc., asserting that they entrusted their vehicle to Shiflet despite knowing or having reason to know he was unlicensed or incompetent. The plaintiff argues that this negligence directly resulted in his injuries and damages. Furthermore, the complaint includes allegations of joint and several liability against both defendants for their roles in causing the accident.

The plaintiff seeks monetary relief exceeding $1 million for medical expenses, pain and suffering, loss of earnings, disfigurement, physical impairment, exemplary damages, court costs, and interest. Additionally, Booker demands a jury trial to resolve these claims.

Representing Renoyce Booker is attorney Brett Michael Hill from Gibson Hill PC. The case is presided over by judges at the District Court of Harris County under Case ID 2024-86155.
