A lawsuit has been filed against a Texas-based hospitality company following an incident at a hotel event that left several individuals injured. On December 17, 2024, Caprice Myles, Ramon Myles, Lance Bissant, and Ronald Batiste filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against Metro Hospitality Partners, LTD. The plaintiffs allege negligence on the part of the defendant.

The case stems from an October 15, 2023 incident during a Saints vs. Texans Jersey Party at the Wyndham Hotel — NRG in Houston. According to the complaint, while attending the event, a partition wall became unstable and fell onto the plaintiffs. This occurrence resulted in serious injuries for Caprice Myles, Ramon Myles, Lance Bissant, and Ronald Batiste. The plaintiffs claim that Metro Hospitality Partners owned and operated the premises at the time of the incident and failed to maintain a safe environment.

The plaintiffs argue that Metro Hospitality Partners was negligent in allowing dangerous conditions to exist on their property. They accuse the company of failing to properly hire, train or supervise employees and not taking necessary actions to prevent such hazards. The complaint lists various breaches of duty by Metro Hospitality Partners including failing to warn about risks and not implementing adequate safety measures.

In their filing, the plaintiffs seek compensation for damages including past and future medical expenses, loss of enjoyment of life, physical pain and suffering as well as mental anguish. They also invoke the doctrine of res ipsa loquitur suggesting that such accidents typically do not occur without negligence.

Representing the plaintiffs is attorney Charles M. Thomas from Huber Thomas LLP based in New Orleans. The case is presided over by judges at Harris County's 152nd Judicial District Court under Case ID 2024-87439.
