A former employee has filed a lawsuit against a local restaurant, alleging negligence after suffering injuries from a slip and fall incident. Maria Lisbeth Blanco initiated the complaint on December 26, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County against JRLJJ, LLC, doing business as Las Mamacita’s Mexican Restaurant and Mamacitas on the Bay Three, Inc.

The lawsuit arises from an incident that occurred on December 27, when Blanco was working at the defendants' premises located at 15335 North Freeway, Houston, Texas. According to the petition, Blanco slipped and fell due to water accumulation on the floor caused by one of the defendant's employees. The plaintiff claims that this hazardous condition resulted from inadequate training provided by the defendants to their staff. "Defendants failed to adequately train their employees and agents to prevent the creation of hazardous conditions," states the complaint. As a result of this alleged negligence, Blanco sustained injuries and suffered damages.

Blanco's lawsuit accuses JRLJJ, LLC and Mamacitas on the Bay Three, Inc. of breaching their duty to provide a safe work environment. She argues that her injuries were directly caused by this breach. The complaint further asserts that recovery is justified under common law premises liability because "the condition of the premises presented an unreasonable risk of harm." It is alleged that despite having actual knowledge of the dangerous condition, at least one employee failed to take appropriate action to warn or protect Blanco.

In seeking justice for her injuries, Blanco requests various forms of relief from the court. These include compensation for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, impairment losses both past and future, as well as lost wages incurred due to her inability to work following the incident. Additionally, she seeks pre-judgment interest commencing thirty days after sums are due until judgment is rendered and post-judgment interest until full payment is made.

Representing Maria Lisbeth Blanco in this case are attorneys David K. Mestemaker and Norman Straub from Mestemaker, Straub & Zumwalt in Houston. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-89021 with proceedings taking place in Harris County's 189th Judicial District Court.
