Judy Pruitt, Mansome Powers, and Joshua Powers have filed a lawsuit against Triscope Corporation, alleging negligence due to a severe bed bug infestation in their apartment. The complaint was filed on January 31, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The plaintiffs are seeking justice for the damages they suffered while residing at an apartment complex owned by Triscope Corporation.
The plaintiffs allege that during their tenancy from February 2, 2023, to February 28, 2024, at Apartment No. 5 located at 6802 Sayers Street in Houston, Texas, they were subjected to numerous bed bug bites resulting in physical and emotional distress. They claim that Triscope Corporation failed to maintain the apartment free from infestations despite having prior knowledge of such issues within the complex. "Defendant recklessly and/or negligently chose not to inspect or otherwise ensure that Plaintiffs' apartment was free of Cimex lectularius ('bed bugs') immediately before Plaintiffs’ occupancy," the petition states.
The plaintiffs assert that they notified the apartment management immediately upon discovering the infestation but received no adequate response or action to address the issue. They accuse Triscope Corporation of gross negligence for failing to implement proper policies and procedures to prevent such infestations and protect tenants from exposure. The complaint further alleges that Triscope Corporation's actions demonstrate a pattern of extreme indifference and reckless disregard for tenant safety.
As a result of these alleged failures by Triscope Corporation, Judy Pruitt, Mansome Powers, and Joshua Powers claim they have endured various damages including pain and suffering, medical costs both past and future, loss of personal property exposed to the infestation, as well as emotional injuries like anxiety and embarrassment. They are seeking monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million along with exemplary damages for gross negligence.
Represented by attorney Bob Wynne from The Wynne Firm P.C., the plaintiffs demand a jury trial to determine compensatory damages for their injuries. The case is presided over by Judge Tianni Williams under Case ID: 2025-06861 in Harris County's 334th Judicial District Court.
