Sandi Kline has filed a lawsuit against a major hotel chain, alleging negligence that led to her sustaining significant injuries. The complaint was lodged by Sandi Kline in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on February 20, 2025, naming Marriott International as the defendant.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on October 31, 2024, when Kline reportedly slipped on a wet surface in the main lobby of the Marriott Marquis Houston. According to the petition, there were no signs warning patrons of the slippery condition. Kline argues that Marriott International knew or should have known about this hazardous situation and failed to take necessary precautions to ensure guest safety. "Defendant failed to exercise ordinary care to protect invitees," states the petition. As a result of this alleged negligence, Kline claims she suffered severe injuries and damages.

Kline's lawsuit is grounded in premises liability law. She asserts that as an invitee on Marriott's property, she was owed a duty of reasonable care which was breached by Marriott's failure to maintain safe conditions and adequately warn guests of potential dangers. The plaintiff accuses Marriott of several acts of negligence including failing to maintain safe premises and neglecting to inspect for dangerous conditions. These failures allegedly resulted in Kline's injuries.

In terms of relief sought from the court, Kline is asking for compensation for past and future medical expenses related to her injuries, mental anguish, physical pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, physical impairment, lost earning capacity and wages. Additionally, she seeks pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with any other damages revealed through discovery. Notably, Kline specifies that her damages do not exceed $250,000 excluding interest and attorney fees.

Representing Sandi Kline is Anjali Sharma from Roberts Markland LLP based in Houston. The case is presided over by Judge Kerrylone Asberry under Case ID 2025-11788.
