In a dramatic legal filing, an Illinois resident has accused two Texas-based hospitality companies of negligence following a severe injury at one of their hotels. Nadirah Saleem filed the complaint in Harris County District Court on March 14, 2025, against Manaslu CIS Hospitality, Inc. and Lhotse CIS, LLC. The lawsuit seeks justice for what Saleem describes as a traumatic experience that left her with significant injuries.

The incident occurred on April 28, 2023, when Saleem was staying at the Country Inn & Suites located at 15555 John F. Kennedy Blvd., Houston, Texas—a property operated by the defendants. According to the complaint, Saleem was assigned a room where the bathtub's surface was misrepresented as having anti-slip safety features. Upon stepping into the tub to take a shower, she slipped and fell due to the alleged failure of these safety elements. This fall resulted in multiple fractures to her left humerus and severe nerve damage extending down her arm into her hand. Saleem continues to suffer from pain and impairment stemming from this incident.

Saleem's lawsuit outlines several causes of action against Manaslu CIS Hospitality and Lhotse CIS, including premises liability and negligence. She argues that the defendants had a duty to ensure their premises were safe for guests like herself but failed to do so by not maintaining or inspecting the bathtub properly. The suit claims that "Defendants knew or should have known that their bathtub surface posed an unreasonable risk of harm" due to deteriorated or non-standard safety features they falsely represented as effective.

Additionally, Saleem accuses the defendants of negligent hiring, training, supervising, and retaining employees responsible for maintaining guest rooms' safety standards. She asserts that these failures directly contributed to her accident and subsequent injuries. The complaint highlights that despite knowing about potential risks associated with their cleaning methods—such as applying substances that made surfaces slippery—the defendants took no corrective action nor warned patrons like Saleem.

In terms of relief sought from the court, Saleem is requesting monetary compensation exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million for damages including medical expenses (both past and future), physical pain and suffering (past and future), loss of earnings capacity (past and future), exemplary damages due to gross negligence by defendants' staff members under respondeat superior doctrine among others.

Representing Nadirah Saleem are attorneys Cicely D. Benoit from Reed Armstrong PLLC along with Robert L Woods from The Woods Law Firm P.C., while presiding over this case will be Judge Adiliani Solis in Harris County District Court identified under Case ID: 2025-17581.
