A woman is taking legal action against a Texas-based grocery store, claiming negligence after suffering injuries on their premises. Graciela Alfaro Mexicano filed a complaint on April 4, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against Carniceria La Hacienda, LLC, which operates as La Hacienda Carneceria.
The lawsuit arises from an incident that occurred on October 17, 2023. According to the petition, Mexicano was shopping at the La Hacienda Carneceria store located at 122 Truly Plaza in Cleveland, Texas. While inside the store's meat area, she slipped on debris left on the floor. The floor was not slip-resistant and allegedly poorly maintained by the defendant. As a result of this fall, Mexicano claims to have suffered serious bodily injuries.
Mexicano's lawsuit accuses Carniceria La Hacienda of premises liability and negligence. The allegations include "negligently allowing the premises to become dangerous," "failing to keep the store floor in a reasonably safe condition," and "failing to give adequate warning of the existence of the dangerous condition." She asserts that these failures were known or should have been known by the defendant through ordinary care.
The plaintiff seeks monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but less than $1 million for damages including past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment and disfigurement, lost wages, and loss of earning capacity. Additionally, she requests pre-judgment interest and post-judgment interest along with costs of court.
Representing Graciela Alfaro Mexicano are attorneys from The Huynh Law Firm PLLC and The Law Offices of Hilda L. Sibrian P.C., including Sarah Y-Nhi Huynh and Hilda Leonor Sibrian. The case has been assigned Case ID 2025-23630 in the 165th Judicial District Court under Judge Rhonda Momon.
