HOUSTON – A woman has filed a negligence lawsuit against the owners of a Houston apartment complex, alleging that she fell down the stairs because of dangerous conditions.

Plaintiff Ella Redd filed the lawsuit in the Harris County Circuit Court against Lansbourough Apartments, L.P., and Wilhoit, Properties, Inc., citing negligence.

According to the lawsuit, Redd was an invitee at the Lansbourough Apartments in Houston on May 9, 2023. She claims that while she was on the premises, she was walking down the stairs when the dangerous conditions of the stairs caused her to suddenly fall and sustain serious injuries.

According to Redd, the defendants negligently failed to properly maintain the premises to protect the safety of its visitors, failed to maintain and repair a defective handrail, failed to provide warning of the defective handrail, failed to provide adequate lighting for the stairs, and negligence in general.

Redd alleges that as a result of the defendant's negligence, she sustained bodily injuries that have caused her pain, suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, disfigurement, and lost wages, and claims that her injuries will impact her ability to earn income and lead a normal life. She adds that she has incurred medical expenses and will continue to require the services of medical staff to recover from her injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking damages in excess of $1,000,000, plus interest, court costs, and any other relief the court deems proper. She is represented in this case by attorney Richard "Trey" Barton, III, and Faizan Ghaznavi of the Law Office of Richard L. Barton, III, PLLC, in Houston.
