On April 12, 2024, Damian Harris filed a lawsuit against Xzavier Omar Ivey-Woods and Erma Taylor in the District Court of Harris County, Texas under case number 2024-23390. The plaintiff accuses the defendants of negligence leading to a vehicular accident that caused him significant injuries.

The incident occurred on July 23, 2023, when the plaintiff was traveling northbound in the 6400 block of FM 521. The defendant Ivey-Woods, who was driving immediately behind Harris's vehicle, allegedly failed to control his speed and collided with the plaintiff's car. The plaintiff asserts that he sustained injuries as a direct result of this collision.

The vehicle driven by Ivey-Woods was owned by co-defendant Erma Taylor. The plaintiff alleges that Taylor negligently entrusted her vehicle to Ivey-Woods, whom Harris describes as an incompetent and reckless driver. The lawsuit further details multiple instances of negligence on part of Ivey-Woods including failing to maintain an assured clear distance, control speed, pay attention to driving conditions among others.

Harris is seeking monetary relief over $250,000 but not more than $1,000,000 for damages incurred due to the accident. He argues that both defendants' actions directly and proximately caused his injuries and damages.
