A recent court filing in Harris County has brought to light serious allegations of negligence against a local investment company. On July 25, 2024, Yolanda Johnson filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against Wonder Investments, LLC.

According to the petition, Johnson claims that on December 22, 2023, she suffered severe and permanent bodily injuries due to an incident at her residence within the Gustine Lane Condominiums located at 10100 S. Gessner in Houston. Johnson alleges that water leaking from pipes in her apartment caused her to slip and fall. She asserts that Wonder Investments, LLC, as the owner and operator of the premises, was negligent in maintaining safe living conditions. The plaintiff's complaint states: "Defendant negligently allowed it [the dangerous condition] to persist without correcting it or adequately warning the public."

Johnson further contends that Wonder Investments failed in multiple aspects of property management. These include not providing a safe living environment, allowing a hazardous condition to exist for an unreasonable amount of time, failing to conduct regular inspections and maintenance, and not training employees properly regarding safety protocols. The lawsuit specifies numerous instances where the defendant's actions or lack thereof directly contributed to Johnson's injuries. For example, the complaint mentions: "In failing to adequately maintain the premises in question in a reasonably safe condition" and "In failing to follow Defendant’s own policies with regard to inspection of the premises."

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million for physical pain and suffering from the date of injury until trial, future medical expenses anticipated for ongoing treatment related to her injuries, mental anguish endured since the incident and expected in the future, loss of earnings capacity both past and future, physical disfigurement and impairment.

Representing Yolanda Johnson is attorney Richard Jason Nava from Bellaire-based Nava Law Group. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-47095 and will be presided over by Judge Nelson Cuero.
