A grieving family is seeking justice for the untimely death of their loved one, alleging medical negligence. On August 6, 2024, Pamela Landry filed a complaint in the Harris County District Court against St. Luke’s Health System Corporation, Baylor St. Luke's Medical Center, and Dr. Cherie Chinenye Obilom.

Pamela Landry, both individually and as the representative of the estate of Mary Landry (deceased), asserts that her mother received inadequate care at Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center on August 7, 2022. According to the filing, Mary Landry was under the professional care of the defendants when she died due to alleged negligence. The plaintiff contends that the defendants failed to adhere to acceptable standards of care, leading to Mary Landry's premature death.

The complaint outlines several accusations against the defendants: failing to properly train staff, monitor and ensure patient safety, observe and assess Mary Landry's condition adequately, and respond appropriately to her needs. The document states that these breaches constitute negligence under Texas law and were proximate causes of Mary Landry's injuries and subsequent death.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief exceeding $1 million for damages including physical pain and mental anguish endured by Mary Landry before her death. Additionally, Pamela Landry seeks compensation for medical expenses incurred in the past, funeral expenses, loss of companionship, society, care, advice, attention, comfort, counsel love and affection both in the past and future.

The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-50248 in Harris County District Court with Marilyn Burgess serving as District Clerk. The plaintiff is represented by attorneys Dominique D. Calhoun and Joy R. Wells from Calhoun Meredith PLLC.
