A Harris County resident has filed a lawsuit against a local convenience store following a severe injury sustained on the premises. On August 16, 2024, Exequiel Orellana Lopez lodged a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, accusing Friendly Corner Store Corp of negligence and premises liability.

According to the court documents, the incident occurred on January 29, 2024, at Friendly Corner Store located at 4101 Parker Road in Houston. Lopez alleges that while entering the restroom at the store, he slipped on a freshly mopped wet floor that lacked any warning signs. This fall resulted in serious bodily injuries for Lopez. The plaintiff contends that Friendly Corner Store Corp is responsible for his injuries due to their failure to maintain safe conditions within their establishment.

The complaint outlines several specific allegations against Friendly Corner Store Corp. These include negligently allowing dangerous conditions to exist on the premises, failing to keep the floor free of slip hazards, not inspecting the premises adequately to discover such hazards, and not providing sufficient warnings about potential dangers. "Defendant's negligent acts and/or omissions were a proximate cause of Plaintiff's injuries and damages," states the filing.

Lopez is seeking monetary relief ranging from $250,000 to $1,000,000 for various damages including physical pain and suffering, loss of earning capacity and wages both past and future, disfigurement, physical impairment, medical expenses incurred and anticipated in the future. Additionally, Lopez demands a trial by jury to resolve this matter.

Representing Lopez are attorneys Sarah Y-Nhi Huynh from The Huynh Law Firm PLLC and Hilda Leonor Sibrian from The Law Offices of Hilda L. Sibrian P.C. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-53713 and will be heard in the 269th Judicial District Court with Judge Gerardo Perez presiding.
