A serious slip-and-fall incident has led to a legal battle in Harris County, Texas. Debra Soto filed a complaint against Lewis Food Town, Inc., doing business as Food Town, on February 19, 2025. The lawsuit alleges negligence and premises liability after Soto suffered injuries at one of the company's locations.

According to the court documents filed by Debra Soto in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, she was injured on April 20, 2024, while visiting a Food Town store located at 442 W Little York Rd in Houston. The complaint accuses Food Town of failing to maintain safe premises and not warning customers about potential hazards. "Plaintiff suffered injuries as a direct result of an unreasonably dangerous condition on Defendant's premises," the document states. Soto claims that she slipped and fell due to spills scattered on the floor, which resulted in serious personal injuries.

The plaintiff asserts that Food Town had actual or constructive knowledge of the hazardous condition but failed to take appropriate action to protect invitees like her from danger. She argues that the company did not have adequate policies or procedures in place to ensure safety and failed to train its employees properly. "Defendant's failure to use reasonable care to protect Plaintiff from the dangerous condition proximately caused Plaintiff's injuries," reads another part of the filing.

Soto is seeking damages exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million for medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earnings, and other related damages. She requests pre-judgment interest from the date of injury through judgment at the maximum rate allowed by law and post-judgment interest at the legal rate.

Representing Debra Soto are attorneys Brandon A. Kinard, Abraham Garcia, Carlos A. Saldafia, Alexander M. Meniétiaca, Hector Hernandez IIII (Hector Hernandez), and Adelyn Tegres from KGS Law PLLC. The case was filed under Case ID: 2025-11419 with Judge Kerrylone Asberry presiding over it.
