A slip and fall incident at a convenience store has led to a legal battle in Harris County, Texas. On February 18, 2025, Jaquaries Johnson filed a complaint against Hamilton C-Store LLC in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. The lawsuit stems from an incident that occurred on November 21, 2023, when Johnson was allegedly injured due to a slick substance on the floor of the defendant's premises.
According to the complaint, Jaquaries Johnson was an invitee at Hamilton C-Store LLC located at 1818 Hamilton Street in Houston when he slipped and fell because of a slick substance on the floor. Johnson claims there were no warning signs or other indications of caution near the area where the incident occurred. He alleges that he was unaware of the dangerous condition and that Hamilton C-Store LLC either created or failed to correct this hazardous situation. The plaintiff accuses the defendant of negligence for not maintaining safe premises and failing to warn him about potential dangers.
Johnson's petition highlights several allegations against Hamilton C-Store LLC, including failure to maintain reasonably safe conditions on their premises, failure to inspect areas where dangerous conditions existed, failure to take reasonable measures to safeguard visitors, and failure to inform him about these hazards. These acts are claimed as negligent conduct contributing directly to his injuries. Furthermore, Johnson asserts that Hamilton C-Store LLC did not act as a reasonably prudent premise owner would under similar circumstances.
As compensation for his injuries, Jaquaries Johnson seeks monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million. The damages sought include past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement, as well as lost wages and loss of earning capacity. Additionally, he requests pre-and post-judgment interest along with all court costs.
