Sandra Raushenberger has filed a lawsuit against Target Corporation, alleging negligence and seeking over $1 million in damages. The complaint was filed on October 31, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. Raushenberger claims that she suffered personal injuries due to a slip-and-fall incident at a Target store located in Tomball, Texas.

According to the petition, the incident occurred on May 20, 2023, when Raushenberger visited the Target store with the intention of purchasing groceries. She alleges that while shopping, she slipped on an unmarked slippery substance on the floor, which resulted in her fall and subsequent injuries. The plaintiff asserts that there were no warning signs or notifications from any of Target's employees about the hazardous condition of the floor.

Raushenberger accuses Target Corporation of failing to maintain a safe environment for its patrons by not properly inspecting and addressing dangerous conditions within their premises. She further contends that Target's employees were aware or should have been aware of the spill but neglected to take appropriate action to prevent accidents. "Defendant's agents or employees were proximately close to the substance in question for an extended period of time," states the petition, emphasizing their alleged negligence.

The lawsuit also highlights Target's purported nationwide policy shortcomings regarding safety measures such as anti-slip mats and warning signs. Raushenberger argues that despite numerous similar incidents across various branches leading to serious injuries annually, Target has shown conscious indifference by not implementing adequate training for its staff to prevent foreseeable falls.

In addition to claims of premise liability, Raushenberger accuses Target Corporation of gross negligence. She argues that their actions involved an extreme degree of risk and exhibited a conscious disregard for her safety and welfare. As a result, she seeks punitive damages alongside compensation for medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment, loss of earnings capacity, disfigurement, and other related damages.

Representing Sandra Raushenberger is attorney Richard Ryder Haag from Attorney Brian White & Associates P.C., based in Houston. The case is being heard by Judge Nathan Velasquez in Harris County's 113th District Court under Case ID 2024-76105.
