A serious legal battle is unfolding in Harris County, Texas, as a plaintiff accuses two corporate entities of negligence leading to severe personal injuries. Roderick Bryant filed a complaint on December 6, 2024, against PC Tanglewilde Owner, LLC and PC Tanglewilde Manager, LLC in the District Court of Harris County. The case revolves around an incident that occurred at an apartment complex managed by the defendants.

According to the lawsuit, Bryant alleges that on December 22, 2022, he suffered significant injuries due to slipping and falling on a hazardous walkway condition at the Flats on Tanglewilde apartment complex. The plaintiff claims that this dangerous condition was created by water from a decorative fountain freezing over the walkway during cold weather conditions. Despite warnings about freezing temperatures from weather forecasts prior to the incident, the defendants allegedly allowed the fountain to operate without taking necessary precautions such as posting warning signs or preventing water from spilling onto walkways.

Bryant's petition outlines multiple accusations against both PC Tanglewilde Owner and Manager. He argues that they failed in their duty of care by not maintaining safe premises and not providing adequate warnings about potential hazards. "Defendants negligently allowed a large decorative water fountain on the premises to operate during freezing weather," states Bryant in his complaint. This negligence allegedly resulted in ice forming on walkways which led to his fall and subsequent injuries.

The plaintiff seeks monetary damages exceeding $1 million for medical expenses incurred due to past and future treatments, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, loss of earnings capacity, disfigurement, and other related damages. Additionally, Bryant is pursuing exemplary damages based on what he describes as "conscious indifference" by the defendants towards safety risks posed by their actions or omissions.

Representing Roderick Bryant is attorney Rahlita D. Thornton from Thornton Esquire Law Group. The case is presided over by Judge Nelson Cuero under Case ID 2024-85287.
