A Harris County resident has taken legal action against a car wash company following an incident that allegedly resulted in serious injuries. Laura Malaska Nix filed a complaint on December 20, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, accusing Richardson, Inc., doing business as Rich's Car Wash, Inc., of negligence and gross negligence related to an accident that occurred at their Houston location.

According to the petition filed by Nix, the incident took place on February 3, 2023, when she was visiting the car wash located at 16111 Space Center Boulevard in Houston. As an invitee on the premises, her vehicle was struck by machinery during the car wash process. The plaintiff claims that Richardson, Inc. failed to ensure the safety of its patrons by not maintaining their equipment properly and not addressing or warning about potential hazards. "The Defendant knew or should have known of this unsafe condition but failed to remedy or correct it," states the complaint.

Nix is seeking damages for various forms of harm she alleges resulted from the incident. These include physical pain and mental anguish both past and future, lost wages and loss of earning capacity in the future, physical disfigurement and impairment both past and future, medical expenses incurred as well as those anticipated in the future, exemplary damages meant to punish particularly egregious conduct, and any other relief deemed appropriate by law and equity. The plaintiff has indicated that she seeks monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million.

The legal representation for Laura Malaska Nix is provided by Kraig L. Rushing from his law office based in Houston. The case has been assigned to Judge Mitchel in the 190th District Court under Case ID 2024-88336.
