Sara Leticia Cambar Casco has filed a lawsuit against Teloloapan Plaza, L.L.C., alleging negligence that resulted in serious personal injuries. The complaint was lodged on February 5, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. Cambar Casco accuses Teloloapan Plaza of failing to maintain safe premises at their Houston location, leading to an accident that caused her significant harm.
The incident occurred on June 22, 2024, when Cambar Casco was shopping at Teloloapan Plaza's store on Aldine Bender Road in Houston. While retrieving a drink from a cooler, the door detached and fell on her, resulting in severe injuries. According to the petition, "Defendant was aware or should have been aware of the hazardous condition but failed to correct the condition and/or failed to warn of the hazardous condition." Cambar Casco claims she did nothing to cause the incident and attributes her injuries directly to the defendant's negligence.
Cambar Casco's legal action is based on premises liability, asserting that Teloloapan Plaza had control over the premises and thus owed a duty of care to its invitees. The plaintiff argues that Teloloapan Plaza knew or should have known about the dangerous condition posed by the cooler door but neglected to take appropriate measures to ensure safety or provide adequate warnings. As a result of this alleged negligence, Cambar Casco suffered physical pain, incurred medical expenses, and experienced property damage.
In her petition, Cambar Casco seeks monetary relief exceeding $1 million for various damages including past and future medical expenses, physical pain and suffering, physical impairment, loss of earnings and earning capacity, loss of consortium and household services, disfigurement, mental anguish, fear of future disease or condition, cost of medical monitoring and prevention in the future as well as property damage. Additionally, she requests exemplary damages due to what she describes as an extreme degree of risk posed by Teloloapan Plaza’s actions.
