Muhammad Wright has filed a lawsuit against Delect Foods of Tri-City, LLC, operating as Pizza Hut, for severe injuries sustained due to alleged negligence. The complaint was filed on April 11, 2025, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. Wright claims that while visiting a Pizza Hut location in Pasadena, Texas, he suffered catastrophic injuries when a poorly mounted sink detached from the wall and shattered.

The incident occurred on July 22, 2023, when Wright was washing his hands at the Pizza Hut located at 3017 Red Bluff Road. According to the petition filed by his attorney D’Angelo M. Lowe of Lowe Law PLLC, the sink was inadequately secured with only one wall bracket and adhesive sealant rather than being properly anchored into studs or blocking as required by building codes. This lack of structural support allegedly violated industry standards and resulted in severe lacerations to both of Wright's hands.

Wright's injuries were extensive and included a transected tendon in his left hand and nerve damage in his left thumb. He underwent multiple surgeries including tendon repair and nerve grafting but continues to suffer from chronic pain and impaired functionality. These injuries have significantly impacted his ability to work as an independent contractor and perform daily tasks. Furthermore, Wright alleges that this incident has caused profound psychological distress affecting his personal relationships and quality of life.

The plaintiff is seeking more than $1 million in damages for medical expenses, lost wages, physical impairment, disfigurement, mental anguish, loss of enjoyment of life, loss of consortium, and exemplary damages due to gross negligence. The lawsuit accuses Delect Foods of premises liability for failing to maintain safe conditions and negligence for not adhering to proper construction practices.

Wright's legal team argues that Delect Foods had actual knowledge of the extreme risk posed by the improperly mounted sink yet proceeded with conscious indifference to customer safety. They cite violations of several building codes including those under Texas Local Government Code § 214516 adopting the International Building Code.

Represented by attorneys D’Angelo M. Lowe and JaDarius J. Eason from Lowe Law PLLC in Houston, Texas, Muhammad Wright seeks justice through this court filing identified as Case No. 2025-25512 before Judge Wanda Chambers in Harris County's 11th Judicial District Court.
