In a compelling legal battle, a Texas resident has taken action against a major retail chain, alleging negligence and seeking justice for injuries sustained on their premises. Maria Isabel Reyes Cruz filed a lawsuit against H-E-B, LP and H.E.B., Inc. in the District Court of Harris County, Texas on May 7, 2025. The case centers around an incident that occurred at one of the defendant's stores.

The plaintiff, Maria Isabel Reyes Cruz, claims that while shopping at an H-E-B store located at 10251 Kempwood Drive in Houston on December 11, 2023, she slipped on water present on the floor. According to the petition, the floor was not slip-resistant and was inadequately maintained by the defendants. As a result of this fall, Reyes Cruz suffered serious bodily injuries. The complaint accuses H-E-B of failing to maintain safe premises for its customers and highlights several acts of negligence such as allowing dangerous conditions to exist and failing to provide adequate warnings about these hazards.

Reyes Cruz argues that as an invitee at the store, she was owed a duty of care by H-E-B to ensure her safety while shopping. She alleges that the defendants failed in their responsibility to inspect and rectify any hazardous conditions or provide sufficient warnings about potential dangers. The lawsuit claims that these failures were directly responsible for her injuries.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but less than $1 million for damages including physical pain and mental anguish both past and future, loss of earning capacity and wages, disfigurement, physical impairment, medical expenses incurred due to the incident, as well as other damages permitted by law. Additionally, Reyes Cruz demands a trial by jury to resolve this matter.

Representing Maria Isabel Reyes Cruz are attorneys from Huynh Law PLLC: Sarah Huynh (SBN: 24092558), Pavel Savinov (SBN: 24094698), Michael Alvarez (SBN: 24068754), and Jeremy M. Taylor (SBN: 24053506). The case is identified under Cause No. 2025-32201 in Harris County's judicial system.
