BEAUMONT – An area resident is suing over burns he received when a flash fire broke out at Goodyear’s chemical plant.

Seeking more than $1 million in damages, Loi Pham filed suit against Goodyear Tire & Rubber.

An amended petition was filed Oct. 12, which states that on Oct. 19, 2018 Pham was an independent contractor working at Goodyear’s chemical plant in Beaumont.

“While working on the jobsite, Pham was severely burned in a flash fire,” the suit states. “Emergency response personnel responded immediately and began treatment. Following the flash fire, an air rescue helicopter transported him to a hospital in Houston, Texas. As one can imagine, this preventable incident caused serious and permanent injuries to Mr. Pham, his wife, and family.”

The suit also names Hydrochem, Burrow Global and the Process Safety and Reliability Group as defendants, along with two individuals.

Pham is represented by Cody Dishon, Jane Leger, Tripp Jones and Javier Cabanillas, attorneys for The Ferguson Law Firm.

Judge Mitch Templeton, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. E-203255
