A Harris County woman has filed a lawsuit against a local real estate company, alleging negligence that led to her severe injuries. Alma Ramos filed the complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on September 10, 2024, accusing Seven Miles Real Estate LLC of failing to maintain safe premises.

According to the court documents, Alma Ramos claims she was injured on November 1, 2022, when she slipped and fell at a commercial office building owned by Seven Miles Real Estate LLC located at 2322 Little York Rd., Houston, Texas. Ramos alleges that she entered through the West entrance of the Shell/Leapfrog section of the building and slipped on a clear liquid produced by mopping. The fall caused her to hit her head and injure both her arms. "There were no visible doormats or Caution/Wet Floor signs on the West entrance," states the complaint. Ramos contends that Seven Miles Real Estate LLC and its agents failed to prevent or remedy this dangerous condition despite knowing or should have known about it through ordinary care.

Ramos's lawsuit outlines several accusations against Seven Miles Real Estate LLC under negligence and premises liability theories. She asserts that as an invitee on their property, the defendant owed her a duty of care which they breached by not ensuring safety measures such as removing hazardous conditions or warning about them. "Defendant directly participated in creating these dangerous conditions," Ramos claims in her petition. Specific allegations include failing to ensure safety for invitees, not removing or remedying dangerous conditions, and neglecting to warn about such hazards.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief between $250,000 and $1 million for various damages including medical expenses incurred due to her injuries, lost wages or loss of earning capacity, physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment or incapacity, and physical disfigurement. Additionally, Ramos seeks exemplary damages within the jurisdictional limits of the court along with pre-judgment and post-judgment interest on all accrued damages from the date of judgment at the highest legal rate.

Representing Alma Ramos are attorneys Mathew E. Mendoza and W. Clark Martin IV from The Martin Law Firm PLLC. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-61087 in Harris County's 11th Judicial District Court with Judge Patricia Jones presiding over it.
