Michaela Piper has taken legal action against a prominent grocery chain following an unfortunate incident that left her injured. On December 13, 2024, Michaela Piper filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, against The Kroger Co. and Kroger Texas L.P., alleging negligence on their part which led to her injuries.

The case stems from an incident that occurred on November 2, 2024, when Piper was shopping at a Kroger store located at 1035 N. Shepherd Drive in Houston, Texas. According to the lawsuit, while navigating through the store, Piper slipped on a puddle of water and fell to the floor. As a result of this fall, she sustained injuries that required medical attention and incurred significant medical expenses. In her petition, Piper claims that the defendants failed in their duty to maintain safe premises for customers and did not take reasonable steps to eliminate hazards or warn patrons about potential dangers.

Piper's lawsuit outlines several allegations against The Kroger Co. and Kroger Texas L.P., including negligence for failing to maintain safe pathways within the store and inadequate training and supervision of employees responsible for floor maintenance. She asserts that these oversights contributed directly to her accident and subsequent injuries. "Defendants had actual or constructive knowledge of some condition on the premises which posed an unreasonable risk of harm," states the complaint.

Seeking justice for her ordeal, Piper is requesting monetary relief amounting to $250,000 or less. Her demands include compensation for past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering endured both physically and mentally, as well as lost wages due to her inability to work following the incident. Additionally, she seeks pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with court costs.

Representing Michaela Piper in this matter is Aysia Mayo-Gray from J. Jackson Law Offices PLLC based in Houston. The case has been assigned Case ID 2024-86618 with proceedings taking place under Judge Christopher Matthews' jurisdiction.
