A Texas resident has filed a lawsuit against an individual and a company, claiming negligence and premises liability after suffering injuries from a slip-and-fall incident. Michael Gordon lodged the complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on February 21, 2025, naming Linda Clayton and Hiffman Asset Management LLC as defendants.

The case centers around an incident that occurred on October 24, 2024, when Michael Gordon was visiting an office building managed by the defendants at 800 Rockmead Dr., Kingwood, Texas. According to the petition, Gordon slipped on a puddle of water that had accumulated on the floor, resulting in severe bodily injuries. The plaintiff argues that the defendants failed to maintain safe premises or provide adequate warning about the hazardous condition. "Defendants knew or should have known of the unreasonably dangerous condition posed by the water on the floor," states the petition. Furthermore, it accuses them of negligence for not correcting or warning about this condition.

Gordon's legal team highlights several alleged failures by the defendants: not inspecting or maintaining safe conditions at their premises; failing to warn visitors like Gordon about potential hazards; neglecting to train employees adequately to prevent such dangers; and generally not acting as reasonably prudent individuals under similar circumstances. These actions—or lack thereof—are claimed to have directly led to Gordon's injuries and damages.

The plaintiff is seeking compensatory damages exceeding $1 million for various losses including physical pain, mental anguish, medical expenses (both past and future), physical impairment and disfigurement, lost wages and future earning capacity. Additionally, he requests pre-judgment and post-judgment interest along with any other relief deemed appropriate by the court.

Representing Michael Gordon are attorneys Brent M. Cordell and Michael G. Smith from Smith & Hassler law firm based in Houston. The case is filed under Case ID: 2025-12190 in front of Judge Bernitta Barrett at Harris County’s 334th District Court.
