A Texas resident has taken legal action against two corporations, alleging negligence and premises liability after suffering severe injuries from a fall. Ann Leong filed the complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, on February 20, 2025, naming Hong Kong Development Corporation and Ocean Interests, Inc. as defendants.

The lawsuit stems from an incident on July 28, 2024, when Ann Leong was walking near Ocean Place Restaurant and tripped over an uneven sidewalk area. The plaintiff claims that the area was unreasonably unsafe and lacked warning signs to alert her to the hazardous condition. As a result of this fall, she sustained severe bodily injuries. Leong argues that as owners or managers of the premises, the defendants had a duty to eliminate or warn business invitees like herself about such dangerous conditions. "Defendants failed to warn Plaintiff of the dangerous condition and/or to make the dangerous condition reasonably safe," states the petition.

Leong is seeking monetary relief greater than $250,000 but less than $1 million for her injuries which include physical pain and suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement, lost wages, and loss of earning capacity. She also anticipates ongoing medical expenses related to her injuries. The complaint outlines various allegations against the defendants including failure to maintain a safe environment for invitees and failure to exercise reasonable care in preventing foreseeable risks of injury.

The plaintiff's attorney is Sofia E. Bruera from Bruera Law Firm PLLC based in Houston, Texas. The case has been assigned Case ID 2025-11865 in the 215th Judicial District Court of Harris County.
