A recent lawsuit has been filed against a wholesale florist company, alleging negligence and premises liability following an incident that resulted in personal injuries. On March 7, 2025, Rebecca Mellado filed a complaint in the District Court of Harris County, Texas, accusing Mayesh Wholesale Florist, Inc. of failing to maintain safe conditions at their Houston location.

The case revolves around an incident that occurred on October 27, 2023, when Mellado visited the Mayesh Wholesale Florist store located at 470 Garden Oaks Blvd in Houston. While shopping near the cooler aisle and cash registers, she slipped on an unknown substance and fell to the floor. As a result of this fall, Mellado sustained injuries which she claims were due to the negligence of Mayesh Wholesale Florist in maintaining their premises. According to the petition, Mellado was an invitee on the property as a customer at the time of her injury.

Mellado's lawsuit accuses Mayesh Wholesale Florist of several negligent acts including allowing dangerous conditions to exist on their premises and failing to keep the store floor free from slippery substances or debris. The complaint further alleges that the defendant failed to inspect and correct these hazardous conditions or provide adequate warnings about them. Mellado argues that as an occupier with control over the premises, Mayesh had a duty to ensure safety for its customers by maintaining reasonably safe conditions and warning them of any potential dangers.

In her legal filing, Mellado seeks monetary relief exceeding $250,000 but not more than $1 million for damages related to past and future medical expenses, pain and suffering, mental anguish, physical impairment and disfigurement as well as lost wages and diminished earning capacity. Additionally, she demands pre-judgment interest along with costs incurred during court proceedings.

Representing Rebecca Mellado are attorneys Sarah Y-Nhi Huynh from Huynh Law PLLC alongside Hilda Leonor Sibrian from The Law Offices of Hilda L. Sibrian P.C., while Patricia Jones serves as the district clerk overseeing this case under Case ID 2025-15834 in Harris County's 334th Judicial District Court.
