Plaintiff Alleges Negligence Against Employer Gulf Coast Alloy Welding Over Workplace Injury

Mario Mendez has filed a lawsuit against Gulf Coast Alloy Welding, Inc., accusing the company of negligence that led to severe personal injuries. The complaint was filed on October 4, 2024, in the District Court of Harris County, Texas. Mendez alleges that Gulf Coast Alloy Welding failed to provide a safe working environment and adequate assistance during his employment as a fitter, resulting in significant harm.

According to the court documents, Mario Mendez was employed by Gulf Coast Alloy Welding and was working at their premises in Humble, Texas, on November 1, 2023. During his duties, which involved lifting heavy metal pieces without mechanical assistance or additional manpower outside the facility, Mendez suffered a severe back injury. He claims this injury occurred because the company ignored his repeated requests for help with lifting tasks and failed to provide necessary safety equipment or personnel. The plaintiff argues that Gulf Coast Alloy Welding's actions were negligent and grossly negligent as they did not ensure a safe workplace nor adhere to government safety regulations.

Mendez's petition outlines several accusations against Gulf Coast Alloy Welding. These include failing to maintain a reasonably safe work environment, neglecting requests for assistance with heavy lifting tasks, not inspecting or addressing dangerous conditions at the work site, and failing to train employees properly regarding safety procedures. Additionally, he accuses the company of recklessly disregarding employee safety and violating applicable government safety standards. As a result of these alleged failures, Mendez sustained severe physical injuries leading to ongoing pain and mental anguish.

The plaintiff is seeking monetary relief exceeding $1 million for damages related to physical pain, mental distress, loss of earnings both past and future, as well as medical expenses incurred due to his injuries. Furthermore, he requests punitive damages along with pre-judgment and post-judgment interest and attorneys' fees. Mendez has also demanded a jury trial for all claims presented in his lawsuit.
