BEAUMONT – In June 2015, the Ninth Court of Appeals reversed and remanded a now-retired district judge’s decision denying the South East Texas Regional Planning Commission governmental immunity. Two years later, on May 17, the Texas Supreme Court issued a mandate stating that its ruling reversing the Ninth Court is final, confirming Judge Gary Sanderson, formerly of the 60th District Court, was ultimately right in his decision to waive the commission’s immunity.

An end to our prominence in these dubious endeavors would be a good thing and might prompt us to find some more acceptable kind of distinction.

Harris County resident accuses employer of unpaid overtimeHOUSTON — A technician has filed a class-action lawsuit against Global Distribution Services, Inc. d/b/a America’s Alliance d/b/a America’s Choice Garage Door Service and Independent Contractors Group LLC, employer, citing alleged violation of workers compensation acts.Bryan Redmon filed a complaint on behalf of individually and on behalf of all others similarly situated filed a complaint on April 10, in the Houston Division of the Southern District of Texas against the defendants alleging that they violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in 2000, he regularly worked over 40 hours in a work week without being paid an overtime premium of time and one-half for all hours worked in excess of forty hours in a week.
